The piano sound of P-515 is nice but nothing groundbreaking. The OP just mentioned that the P-515 is heavy. I'm wanting to improve my piano, in the synthesizer part and other features the MOX8 serves me for now.īut understand that for simple personal preference, even missing the greater diversity of sounds and the possible differentiated features that another keyboard brand could provide me, I still wish I could have the entire set from a single manufacturer. I understand your point of view, thanks for the comment.īut my main focus is the P-515's keys and its piano sound.

I suspect that, without some handles on those things, all you'll get is a long list of 88-key synths, without rhyme or reason. You could drive them from the P-515 keyboard.
#EXTRA KEYS FOR YAMAHA MOTIF ES8 MAC#
Have you considered using a "software synth" running on a Mac or PC? There are many of them, they're mostly inexpensive (hundreds of $), and would be a good way to get acquainted with the world you want to enter. I think something like a DS88 or Yamaha Motif, or Korg Kronos, gives more than that.ĭo you want/need "workstation capability" - a built-in MIDI (and/or audio) record/playback/edit system ? Or would you use a computer-based DAW ? (The Korg Nautilus has immense power and flexibility - do you need it?)ĭo you need to perform in live settings (which means quick changes from one sound to another) ? Do you want something that generates a whole bunch of different sounds (like the "General MIDI" soundset), and lets you modify them by adjusting A/D/S/R, adding effects, and so on?ĭo you want something that lets you generate sounds from scratch, with oscillators, filters, VCA's, ring modulators, etc? (I have a Roland Gaia SH-01 that's designed for that.)ĭo you need high polyphony (playing lots of notes at once) ? A MicroKorg gives you polyphony of 4 the Gaia gives about 20-30.
